Know Why You're Here

Have you ever felt like life is just happening to you? Like you’re moving, working, doing things—but somehow, you’re not actually going anywhere? That feeling isn’t random. It happens when you don’t have a clear sense of why you’re here.

Successful people don’t just stumble into success. They take the time to figure out their purpose—what they were meant to do. And once they discover it, they pursue it with passion and enthusiasm. The difference between those who thrive and those who struggle isn’t intelligence. It isn’t luck.

It’s clarity.

Without purpose, you drift. You waste time. You chase things that don’t really matter to you. But when you get clear on why you are here, everything changes. So let’s break this down and help you find that clarity today.

The Power of Purpose

Your purpose is the guiding force of your life. It’s the reason you wake up excited. It’s the fuel behind every action you take. When you’re living in alignment with your purpose, you’re:

✔ Doing what you’re passionate about.

✔ Using your natural talents and strengths.

✔ Making a real impact.

But here’s something powerful: Your real purpose will always serve others in some way. If you think your purpose is just about making money, gaining status, or personal achievement, you haven’t found it yet.

Purpose isn’t about taking—it’s about contributing. When you live out your true purpose, your actions naturally create value for others. So the question is: How do you find it?

Finding Your Purpose: Two Exercises That Work

Exercise 1: The Joy List

This is simple but powerful.

• Think about the moments in your life when you felt most joyful, alive, and fulfilled.

• Write them down.

• Now, ask yourself: Could I build a life or career around these things?

Joy is a clue. What excites you isn’t random—it’s pointing you toward something important.

Exercise 2: The Life Purpose Statement

This one will bring it all together:

  1. List your unique qualities. (Are you creative? Strategic? Great at problem-solving? Enthusiastic?)
  2. List how you love expressing those qualities. (Do you love teaching? Leading? Inspiring? Writing? Coaching? Creating?)
  3. Now, imagine a perfect world. How are people interacting? What does it feel like? What’s happening? Describe it in one statement, as if it already exists. (Example: “People work together in harmony, supporting and uplifting one another.”)
  4. Combine all of that into one powerful statement.

Here’s an example:

“My purpose is to use my creativity and enthusiasm to support and inspire others to freely express their talents in a harmonious and loving way.”

Now, write your own statement. Let it be clear. Simple. Authentic.

Extra Tools to Go Deeper

If you want to explore further, try these two powerful tools:

• The Passion Test (from “The Passion Test” by Janet & Chris Attwood)—A process to prioritize your passions and clarify what matters most.

• Guided Visualization—A mental exercise where you imagine yourself living fully in your purpose and notice how it feels.

Use these if you need more clarity.

Living Your Purpose Every Day

Knowing your purpose isn’t enough. You have to live it.

✔ Read your purpose statement every morning. Let it guide you.

✔ Filter your decisions through it. If something doesn’t align with your purpose, say no.

✔ Take action. Even small steps in the right direction create momentum.

Because once you’re clear on why you’re here, you stop wasting time. You start making better choices. You start moving with confidence and purpose. And that’s when life gets exciting.

Final Thought

What would you do—even if you didn’t get paid for it? What excites you so much that you’d do it just for the love of it?

That’s your clue. Find it. Own it. Live it.
